A major rebuild of the engine in our 1923 LaFrance Firetruck is now complete.
A year-long project to rebuild the 100-year-old engine in our 1923 LaFrance was undertaken to reduce exhaust fumes.
With the help of a group of dedicated volunteers, the engine was torn down to allow the installation of new rings, timing gears, a carburetor rebuild, and comprehensive cleaning of the oil pan and crank to allow conversion to more modern motor oils. The result is illustrated in this short video.
