The last known example of the last automobiles produced in Orillia.
In the summer of 1913, Tudhope Motor Company of Orillia, Ontario was purchased by Frank E. Fisher of Walkerville, Ontario. Production remained in Orillia at the Tudhope factory with F.W. Vollans as plant superintendent. By early 1914, Fisher Motor Cars was selling Tudhopes rebranded as Fishers (mostly created from inventory acquired from the Tudhope purchase).
In the spring of 2024, made possible by a generous donation from Garry Potter, the Orillia Heritage Centre (OHC) was able to purchase a 1914 Fisher – the last known remaining example of one of the last automobiles produced in Orillia.
OHC is now engaged in a project to restore the Fisher. The vehicle is currently a running/rolling chassis with most of the nickel plating having already been completed during previous restoration efforts. It requires the body, upholstery, and top to be restored and reassembled. The vehicle is complete except for a few minor items. We’re not aiming for a Concours-level restoration on the initial pass (although we’ve achieved this before with our 1912 Tudhope 4-36), but we are aiming to restore it to a level that will make all of Orillia proud at public exhibits and displays.
OHC is a registered charity run by volunteers. Our mission is to Preserve Orillia’s Industrial History. OHC was founded in the 1980s to keep important artefacts from Orillia’s Industrial Era in Orillia and to make them available for local exhibits and public events. OHC relies on community support and donations to help us achieve these objectives.
